THE "BUY A FLAG" PROJECT.
We are very pleased and grateful to announce that the "Buy a flag" project has been a fantastic success.
All of the flags have been sold and work is expected to commence on the hard standing around the pitch in September.
The flags were purchased by sponsors, club members past and present and by the local community.
Several volunteers visited most of the streets in Halebank and were completley overcome by the generousity of the locals.
So successful was the sale of the flags, they were sold out before we could visit several streets in the village, (we
apologise to all those disappointed supporters).
We would like to thank all who helped to make the "Buy a Flag" project the success it was and we will be erecting
a notice board highlighting the owners of each individual flag when the scheme is complete.

WORKING WITH
THE COMMUNITY
NEWSLETTER
JUNE 2007
Dear Halebank Resident
or Business and Halebank F.C. sponsors.
Firstly a big thank
you to all those who offered such a positive response to our initial newsletter issued in March 2007 and the very kind donations
received from both local business’s and individuals alike which will help maintain the clubs existence in the coming
years and help fund our latest project of a hard-standing around the pitch. Anyone wishing to contribute to the flagged pedestrian
walkway around the pitch will be able to do so via a door to door call scheduled in the coming weeks, just £2 per flag.
The club’s
annual presentation night is to be held at the Great Lakes (formerly Ward Blenk’s) social club, Higher Road,
on Saturday the 30th of June featuring local Widnes band “The Chimneys”
and a disco with admission being £2 on the door. All are welcome so please come along and enjoy the night, 7.30pm start.
We still desperately
need a grounds-person for the coming season. Anyone who may be able to dedicate half a day per week please contact any club
member, all equipment will be provided including a sit-on petrol mower to make life easy.
You may be aware
of the proposed freight terminal related landscaping mound beyond the Blackburn
Avenue playing field proposed by the council following a postal consultation earlier this year.
The result of the ballot favoured a landscaped mound although only 64 residents responded. The football club requests that
all residents re-consider this proposal. We feel that a landscaped mound would be of no benefit whatsoever and that an additional
football pitch would benefit the community far greater. There are limited green playing areas in Halebank for kids to play
and an additional field would provide more amenities and give the football club the opportunity to provide the community with
youth & female teams which is not presently possible due to a single pitch. We feel the community on the whole was not
properly consulted. The purpose of a landscaped mound would be to “mask” freight terminal buildings and potentially
reduce noise levels. We feel a landscaping scheme of mature high and dense trees around the perimeter would be better suited.
If you would like
to request the council reconsider this proposal given more detailed consultation please sign below and we will collect &
forward all signed forms to Halton Borough Council and 3MG related departments on your behalf.
I/we would request
3MG/Halton borough council reconsider its proposal in favour of an additional football pitch in Halebank.

HALEBANK FOOTBALL CLUB
Established 1968
WORKING WITH THE COMMUNITY
Dear Halebank Resident
or Business and Halebank F.C. sponsors.
Please take time
to read our first newsletter of 2007 which may be of interest to you as a member of our community, the purpose of which is
to inform you and your family or business of your local football club which lies at the heart of our village and to hopefully
encourage you or any member of your family or business to have an active involvement with one of the best established and
revered amateur football clubs in the north west of England if you so wish.
Established in 1968
in our current form and home at Blackburne Avenue, our first eleven play in the Warrington & district premier division
and our reserves play in the second division (only 2 other clubs in the whole Warrington area have reserves playing in such
a high division) with both teams riding high in 2nd position at the time of writing the club has in recent years
continually strived to improve it’s playing standards and facilities. Completely self funded and with generous sponsorship
from many local business’s and council grants the club has in the last 3 years alone installed a fixed spectator barrier
around the perimeter of the pitch, a security fence around the changing rooms and undertook a complete refurbishment of the
changing facilities internally, all at a cost approaching £20,000. Our next major project is to provide a flagged pedestrian
walkway around the pitch perimeter to provide a clean hard standing for spectators.
The main purpose
of this newsletter is to both inform and encourage the community of Halebank to actively participate with the club and to
encourage our younger members to participate in sport (we have recently had an influx of 6 local fifteen year olds who now
benefit from training 2 night’s per week instead of walking the streets and who will be encouraged to progress into
the teams in the coming seasons). Your involvement whether it be to just watch and support the teams on a Saturday afternoon
or to actively help in the maintenance and constant ongoing upgrade of the existing facilities or to provide much needed financial
support or sponsorship would be of both great help and benefit to the community on the whole (a good way to start may be to
donate just £2, the cost per flag for the flagged pedestrian hard standing?).
We need a grounds
man, could you spare half a day per week to mow the pitch?
Anyone wishing to
contact us please call Bob Whitley on 07930 558697 or John Anderton on 07970 450408 or just turn up on a Saturday afternoon.
Thank you for your
time to read this newsletter which will be issued on a regular basis. (Please visit our website at the above address for more
information, there is a very good chance a member of your family will be on an old team photo).
